A Carrier is a large warship which carries Fighters and Heavy Fighters. A true carrier will operate a significant air group (compared to the many types of of warships which operate a handful of fighters) and should have appropriate support facilities to repair, refuel, rearm and perform general support and maintenance operations on the fighters (not to mention housing their crews). Actual combat capability of the ship itself varies between classes and is a matter of design philosophy as much as anything.

Entry level in this class belongs to the Anchor Ships, which whilst being technically warships and capable of operating fighters, carry their airwing externally, have no support facilities and are generally not armed, armoured or intended to enter combat, being primarily used for support and rear echelon movements.
